LSC
provides a hierarchical storage management (HSM) product
called Storage and Archive Manager File System
(SAM-FS) to provide network administrators with
solutions to distributed data storage issues.
You can download a demo version of the system (about 1MB compressed) by selecting the distribution box on the left. This is a fully functional system (less the backup and restore utilities) and will expire 30 days after the file system is created. To use the system, you will need a 32 MB SPARC-based system running Solaris 2.4 or Solaris 2.5, at least 1 disk partition (more is better), Solaris 2.x system administration knowledge and removable media device(s). The system supports HP optical libraries and stand-alone optical drives, IBM Multifunction optical drives, LMS Worm drives, Quantum DLT tape drives (2x00 and 4x00), Exabyte 850x tape drives, STK 3480 tape drives and Metrum RSP2150 tape drives.
